Who Should Buy This

The KastKing Brutus Spincast Fishing Reel is perfect for beginners and casual anglers. It is easy to use with its simple push-button design, making fishing less complicated. The reversible handle suits both left and right-handed users. Its affordable price also makes it a great choice for those on a budget or anyone wanting a reliable reel for light to medium fishing.

However, serious or professional fishermen might want to avoid this reel. It may not be strong enough for heavy-duty fishing or large fish. Our Testing Experience

First Impressions

When I first took the KastKing Brutus Spincast Fishing Reel out of the box, I was impressed by how solid and well-built it felt in my hand. The reversible handle was easy to switch, which was great because I’m left-handed and usually struggle with reels that don’t accommodate that. I decided to test it on a calm lake early in the morning. Right away, I noticed how simple the push-button was to use, making casting feel smooth and effortless.

Daily Use

Over the next few days, I used the Brutus on several fishing trips. I liked how quickly the reel picked up the slack line thanks to its stainless-steel dual pickup system. It saved me a lot of time between casts, especially when the fish were biting fast. The 4.0:1 gear ratio made reeling in quick runs from fish much easier, and I didn’t feel like I was fighting the reel itself. It was smooth and responsive every time I used it.

Key Features in Action

The thing that stood out the most during my testing was the reel’s smoothness. The 5 stainless-steel, double-shielded ball bearings really made a difference. Even after casting and reeling in dozens of times, the reel didn’t feel rough or stiff. The line pickup system grabbed the slack line quickly, which helped me set the hook faster and stay in control. Switching the handle from right to left was quick and didn’t require tools, which was a nice bonus.

Long-Term Performance

After using the KastKing Brutus Spincast Fishing Reel for several weeks, I can say it held up very well. The reel stayed smooth and didn’t show any signs of wear or rust, even after fishing in some damp and dusty conditions. The push-button remained easy to press, and the gear system didn’t skip or make strange noises. Overall, it felt reliable and ready for many more fishing trips to come.
